Game #7 Cleveland 122 Boston 121

A couple things we learned from this game is Cleveland is going to score the basketball and play zero defense. Cleveland has averaged 116 points per game over the last three games, while giving up 111 points. Lucky Cleveland best defensive quarter came the 4th when they held Boston to 20 points. Kyrie and Lebron are starting to figure it out on offense, while KLove is struggling a bit to find his niche in this offense. Lebron scored 41 points on 26 shots and dropped 7 dimes. While Kyrie scored 23 of his 27 points in the second half along 5 assists and 3 steals. Love finished with 12 points on 10 shots. He grabbed 15 boards and had 4 assists.

  • Cleveland had 6/10 FG to assist ratio 31% in the 2nd half
  • Boston had 18/24 FG to assist ratio 75% in the 2nd half.

Cleveland has won three in row with a lot home games coming up. Let’s see if home cooking gets this train rolling. There is much to  do for this team to get better.

Game #6 Cavaliers vs Pelicans Preview

Scoring

  • Pelicans   97.2
  • Cavaliers 99.2

Rebounding

  • Pelicans   47.2
  • Cavaliers 39.6

Assists

  • Pelicans   21.2
  • Cavaliers 17.8

Defense Points Allowed Per Game

  • Pelicans 95.2
  • Cavaliers 101.4

Both of these teams came into this young season with different expectations. New Orleans wants t get into the playoff, while Cleveland is looking at much higher expectations like a championship. Both of these teams aren’t scoring the basketball at a high rate. Cleveland offense is not where it should be. They are expected one of the higher scoring teams in the NBA. New Orleans is one the better rebounding teams so far. Cleveland is at home 8 times in there next 10 games. They should move up in the Eastern Conference during this period.

Things to watch tonight

  • Offensive efficiency
  • Battle of the boards
  • Sharing is caring
  • Defensive stops

Memo To The Cavaliers Young Guns

Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters are talented players with a lot learn about NBA basketball. The first lesson they need to learn is they are playing with the best player on the planet. Lebron James has played in four straight NBA finals. He won two rings in his tenure in Miami.  So there is plenty to learn from the King about winning. These two talked good during training camp and the preseason about learning from Lebron, but seem to be drifting back to their old selfish ways. Three games into the season nobody should be panicking. Some conversations will be had about teamwork and sacrificing for the good of the team.

Over the next couple weeks we are going to find out if Irving and Waiters want to be winners or just self-serving basketball players. I hope these two figure what’s needs to be done to become championship contenders.  When the best player in the world decides to come home and be unselfish to win rings I applaud that. James expects these guys to be unselfish like he is willing to be.

Cleveland has twelve games left in the month November with eight of them at home. That’s favorable for a team trying to find a winning chemistry. I hope these two youngsters figure out what they could have with King James because it could be championship special if they really want it.

Post Game Quotes After Trailblazer Disaster

Lebron James

We have to understand what it takes to win. It’s going to be a long process. There’s been a lot of losing basketball around here for a few years,”

“It’s like building a car from scratch. I’ve done that before,” he said. “I hated the process, it got on my nerves. I sent it back to get repainted 100 times. But once it was completely finished I was excited about it.”

“I’m just trying to do other things to instill what it takes to win,”. “My mission is not a one-game thing. We have to do multiple things in order to win. We have to share the ball, we have to play defense, we have to sacrifice in order to ultimately win.”

“A lot of bad habits have been built up over the last couple of years,”. “When you play that style of basketball, it takes a lot to get it up out of you. But I’m here to help.”

Coach Blatt

“We weren’t getting stops. We were scoring, but we weren’t getting stops,”. “I thought we got beat an awful lot one-on-one, we got beat on little things, loose balls around the basket and direct dribble drives … without any kind of real effort around the rim.”

“I just don’t think we brought it tonight to be honest,”. “I don’t think we brought intensity. I don’t think we brought a kind of mindset to defend, and that caught up with us.”

After reading these quotes somebody on Cleveland better get a clue. This shouldn’t be the Cavaliers from last year yet they played like it last night. There is no way this team should be scoring 82 points not with the kind of talent they have this year. Blatt and James don’t sound happy with what happened last night. Cleveland needs to become quick learners in teamwork and unselfishness.
